摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a semiconductor laser which provides a stable higher harmonic output even if it is driven with high speed modulation. SOLUTION: The method for driving a semiconductor laser which has an active layer region, a phase adjusting region and a distributed Bragg reflecting region includes a step for calculating an average value of a multi-pulse modulation current which is modulated with the multi-pulse between a peak current and bottom current poured into the active layer region, a step for calculating the difference value between the average value of the multi-pulse modulation current and a bias current poured into the active layer region and a step of applying a first compensating current to the phase adjusting region when the bias current is poured into the active layer region, while applying a second compensating current corresponding to the difference value to the phase adjusting region when the multi-pulse modulation current is poured into the active layer region.
