PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knitting machine capable of directly controlling guide bars. SOLUTION: This knitting machine has a plurality of guide bars of which the each is connected to a drive unit (9) through a connection part (12), wherein guide needles of the guide bars are each arranged in the direction of an operating line. The knitting machine has an arrangement for aiming at directly controlling the guide bars, so that the drive units (9) are aligned in angular segments centered on the operation line and adjacent to each other and further each of the drive units (9) has smaller width in an area (10) neighboring on the operation line when compared with width in an area (11) far apart from the operation line.
