PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser light source unit for an electrophotographic apparatus, the light source unit that can optimize an exposure to an image carrier even in the switching of resolution and that enables a superior printing quality to be obtained. SOLUTION: In the exposure device which, in accordance with a printing information signal supplied from an external information processor, has one or more laser light sources for making exposure to the image carrier and which is capable of switching between low resolution and high resolution, the light emission time of the laser light source for the printing information signal is made variable for each of the low resolution and the high resolution, so that the superior printing quality can be obtained.
