PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device capable of rapidly performing adjustment in such a way that the video projected on a screen has the most desirable luminance and chromaticity characteristics at the time of replacing of replacement parts which exert the signification influence to the luminance and chromaticity like that of a light source and spectral members when such replacement parts have characteristics varying each other each of the individual parts. SOLUTION: The projection display device is constituted by providing the replacement parts, such as the light source (1) and others with light source characteristic memory means (11) and spectral characteristic memory means (12) for the spectral members (2) in such a manner that the simultaneous replacement thereof is made possible. When the parts of the light source or the spectral members are replaced, characteristic coefficients are determined based on the characteristic data held in the light source characteristic memory means and the spectral member characteristic memory means. Correction factors are determined based on the characteristic coefficients and a target color reproduction range and the correction to the input data is performed by using the correction factors, by which the screen projection videos are so adjusted as to be most approximated to the target value.
