PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization dependent optical isolator using a reflection type polarizer, which is compact, has a high power resistance, and is easily assembled, and to provide a low cost laser diode module using the optical isolator. SOLUTION: The optical isolator has two reflection type polarizers which passes a linearly polarized wave and blocks a polarized wave which is orthogonal to the linearly polarized wave by reflection, includes a function with which a Faraday rotation angle of 45°is given on the optical path between the reflection type polarizers, the planes of two reflection type polarizers are not parallel to each other but have an inclination.
