The specification describes an FFS apparatus for making reclosable plastic bags with slider zippers. The apparatus is best illustrated by figure 5 above wherein: (i) a thermoplastic film(102) is fed continuously into a FFS machine (100) and wrapped around a collar (104) and filling tube (104) to bring the longititudinal edges (108,110) of the film (102) together to form a tube. (ii) The interlocked zipper (10) which has sliders (54) preapplied to it is then fed in a continuous coil (112) between the longititudinal edges (108,110) of the film (102). (iii) Vertical seal bars (114) seal the zipper flanges (24,42) to the longititudinal edges (108,110) to form the top of the bag. The sliders must be clear of the vertical seal bars so that the sliders do not interfere in the sealing of the zipper and are not crushed by the vertical seal bars. It is critical that the zipper flanges are long enough to eliminate any interference between the sliders and the seal bars.
