A composition comprises at least one halogen-containing synthetic rubber and a compound with at least two -N=C<- groups in a non-cyclic bond and/or a N,N-dimethylol compound as well as a diisocyanate or polyisocyanate. Poly - 2 - chloro - butadiene is the specified rubber while the -N=C< compounds specified are the reaction products of a diamine or polyamine with an aldehyde and/or a ketone and the reaction product of dinitroso and/or polynitroso compounds with compounds containing at least one methylene group with active hydrogen in the molecule. Examples of isocyanates are hexamethylene diamine and toluidine isocyantes, triphenylmethane triisocyanate and methylene bis - (4 - phenyl isocyanate) while N-N1 - dimethylols specified are disclosed in Specification 947,581. Fillers and dyestuffs e.g., carbon black, silicon dioxide, metal oxides and silicates in amounts up to 200% of the composition, fibrous materials e.g. textile fibres, asbestos and glass fibres, plasticizers, stabilizers and vulcanizing agents e.g. sulphur and/or organic sulphur compounds as well as polyethylene, chlorosulphonated polyethylene or polypropylene, and/or silicone oil. The compositions may be used in the manufacture of artificial leather, foils, coatings and impregnations. In an example (1) poly-2-chlorobutadiene loaded with carbon black and containing active tin oxide, magnesia oxide, petroleum jelly and polyethylene is sheeted, the sheet dissolved in benzone-ethylacetate-benzine and the reaction product of hexamethylene diamine and benzaldehyde in tetrahydrofuran added.
