The seat has a bearing (2, 3) which provides the seat part (4, 5) with a certain horizontal degree of freedom in its movement forward and back relative to a fixed plinth part (1). The bearing is mounted level or below the seat part and has a repeating swing assembly which each time after movement in one direction starts movement into the other direction. The bearing preferably has two movable e.g. roller-mounted vertical axes (1c, 4a). A locking mechanism is provided to act between the movable seat part and the fixed base plinth.
