PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the effect of a near end reflecting light caused by approach of a receptacle coupled to a light emitting element to a light receiving element and to reproduce a received signal with excellent S/N.

SOLUTION: The optical transmission reception apparatus is provided with: the receptacle 1 coupled to an optical fiber 4; the light emitting element 2 whose light emitting face opposes against the receptacle 1 and that emits a signal light to an opposite party; a transmission drive circuit 20 for receiving a transmission signal Sa and applies drive processing to the light emitting element 2 on the basis of the transmission signal Sa; the light receiving element 3 whose light emitting face opposes against the receptacle 1 and that receives the signal light from the opposite party; a reception circuit 30 for applying reception processing to the signal light received by the light receiving element 3; and an arithmetic circuit 40 for carrying out a calculation to subtract a signal light component based on the transmission signal Sa received by the transmission drive circuit 20 from the received signal subjected to the reception processing by the reception circuit 30.
