PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with a communication function and a communication system which can solve a problem of insufficient storage capacity of a storage means of a camera and also take the protection of privacy into consideration. SOLUTION: Prior to making a memory independently provided on the outside of a camera store image data photographed using an image pickup element from a camera memory 101a, it is determined whether or not a private image or data having a high confidentiality is added to the image data. On a result of this determination, either an external storage control server 102 or a personal computer 103 is selected as a transmission destination and the image data are transmitted.
