WIRELESS SYSTEM WITH A MULTIMODE USER INTERFACE DYNAMICALLY CONFIGURABLE WITH USER PREFERENCES

The invention relates to a wireless system for dynamic configuration of a multimode user interface based on user preferences for communication with a local device. A device node is functionally connected to the local device and is configured for transmission of interface format data for the local device to the portable terminal when within the transmission range of the device node. The portable terminal transmits an interface request in response to the receipt of interface format data. A server node is configured for receipt of the interface request from the portable terminal such as to identify a user interface which may be used in interaction with the device. The server node transmits the identified user interface or the information for generation of the user interface to the portable terminal. The portable terminal presents the user interface or generates the user interface based on the information provided to a user by means of a screen on the portable terminal such that the user can interact with the device in concurrence with the identified user interface.
