<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently allocate boot information to a client moving to a different sub-net in a diskless boot system. <P>SOLUTION: It is detected whether a packet flowing between sub-nets is an inquiry packet of the boot information transferred to a server from an agent who inquires the server in response to a request of the client, a reply packet of the boot information transferred from the server to the agent, or other packets. Then, when the inquiry packet of the boot information is detected, the network information on the sub-net where the server exists is acquired from a storage means for storing the network information for every sub-net, and the replacement of the network information is performed.
