PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a communication terminal unit for transferring data via hypertext transfer protocol, which is connected to a wireless network, to shorten the time required for its response and data transmission, when the communication terminal unit transmits and receives electronic mail to and from a computer network via a gateway device for transferring emails via simple mail transfer protocol, which is connected to the computer network and wireless network. SOLUTION: In a system control unit I-MAX of the gateway device GWS, for outbound mail, the tag of markup language is compressed by a compression unit IM4 with the header item of the electronic mail being reduced by a mail header reduction unit IM7, while for inbound electronic mail, the header item of the electronic mail is added by a mail header addition unit IM8.
