PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconductor the protective film of which is optimized with respect to the thickness, where the protective film is located on a conductive film made of a superconducting material, and to provide a method for manufacturing it. SOLUTION: A superconductor 10 comprises a conductive film 12 made of a superconducting material, a first protective film 13 located on the conductive film 12 in a discontinuous manner, and a second protective film 14 located on the first protective film 13, where the first protective film 13 has areas for exposing the conductive film 12 to the second protective film 14. The conductive film 12 and the first protective film 13 are covered with the second protective film 14. The first protective film 13 and the second protective film 14 are mainly made of silver. If the thickness of the first protective film 13 is d1, and the thickness of the second protective film 14 is d2, then the sum of d1 and d2 is 0.15μm or more and 1μm or less.
