PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire information relating to a designated place by specifying the designated place by means of the input of a part of an address, a zip code or a telephone number. SOLUTION: An information providing system is provided with a terminal which can acquire information provided from the outside, a plurality of server devices which each have provision information peculiar to them, respectively, and a relaying device which relays the provision information to be communicated between the terminal and each of the server devices. In this case, when an address for specifying the designated place is inputted to acquire the information on the designated place, a part of the address specifying the designated place is inputted as the request information for providing the information from the terminal, and transmitted to the server devices via the relaying device. The server devices transmit the whole address covered by the part of the address specifying the designated place to the relaying device, and the relaying device processes the address thus transmitted and transmits only the common part of the address thus transmitted to the terminal.
