摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert having high adhesion of a surface layer without being separated from a base body in a short period of time after coating the surface layer including cubic boron nitride, like a conventional one, and to provide a tool unit. SOLUTION: A coat 5 comprises from the base body 3 side, a base layer 7 provided on the surface of the base body 3 and comprising titanium nitride, an intermediate layer 9 provided on the outer surface of the base layer 7 and comprising titanium, boron and nitrogen, and a surface layer 11 provided on the outer surface of the intermediate layer 9 and comprising boron nitride. The thickness of the base layer 7 is in a range of 0.1-0.5μm. The intermediate layer 9 is constituted to gradually increase the content of boron and to gradually decrease the content of titanium toward the surface layer 11. The thickness of the surface layer 11 is 0.5-1.5μm, and the rate of cubic boron nitride to the whole boron nitride in the surface layer 11 is 10-70 mol%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
