A filtration module is provided having a packing density of at least 300 square meters of active membrane filter area per cubic meter of external volume of said filter construction, said filter constructed of materials characterized by less than 250 mg of extracted contamination per m2 of extracted wetted material. The filtration module includes a membrane composite layer (40) comprising a filtrate screen (15) sealed to each surface of a membrane layer (26) with a thermoplastic polymeric composition (18) positioned about the periphery of the filtrate screen.
