<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for serving user requests to network devices, capable of responding to complex user wishes or tasks, in a more flexible and more reliable manner. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for serving user requests, at least one abstract function model is generated for each device. A given user request is modeled and represented in an abstract manner, by generating an abstract task model thereof. Further, a plurality of abstract function models of distinct devices are combined and are formally merged into a model through a set of arranged external models.
