<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make stably obtainable satisfactory electrostatic chargeability and to attain a high image density while suppressing fog, by polymerizing a monomer compsn. contg. a polymerizable monomer and a colorant in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer and further adding the dispersion stabilizer at the time when the rate of polymn. conversion of the monomer compsn. is a specified value. SOLUTION: A monomer compsn. contg. at least a polymerizable monomer and a colorant is polymerized in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer in a dispersion stabilizing medium and the dispersion stabilizer is further added to the medium at the time when the rate of polymn. conversion of the monomer compsn. is 0.2-0.7. The amt. of the dispersion stabilizer in the initial dispersion stabilizing medium is preferably regulated to 3-12 wt.% of the amt. of the monomer compsn. and the amt. of the dispersion stabilizer added later is preferably regulated to 5-200 wt.% of that in the initial dispersion stabilizing medium. A slightly water-soluble metallic salt of sulfuric acid, carbonic acid, phosphoric acid, pyrophosphoric acid or polyphosphoric acid is used as the dispersion stabilizer and it is prepd. by allowing an alkali metallic salt of the acid to react with a halogenated metallic salt in a dispersive medium.</p> |
