PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage of a solid lubricant due to contact of foreign matter from the outside, to prevent an organic solvent and a coolant from entering a bearing, and to prevent deterioration of the solid lubricant due to the contact of the organic solvent and the coolant with the solid lubricant. SOLUTION: In this tapered roller bearing 10, an annular protective cover 20 for protecting the solid lubricant 15 is mounted on the end face on the front side (on the right side surface in the drawing). That is, in the protective cover 20, an annular part 23 bent toward the end face of an outer ring 12 substantially at right angles in section is provided integrally with the outer peripheral edge of a disc-like cover body 22 having a through hole 21 substantially in the center. The protective cover 20 covers the outer surface (a top face and the right side surface in the drawing) of the solid lubricant 15, and it is held at a predetermined space S between the left end edge part in the drawing of the annular part 23 and the end face of the outer ring 12 between the end face of the inner ring 11 (the right side surface in the drawing) and a shaft fitting part.
