PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a scoring phenomenon caused by contact between a bearing and a rotating shaft, in an air spindle in which the rotating shaft is supported by an air bearing. SOLUTION: The radial air bearing 12 is comprised of radial bearing main body 18 constituted of a cylindrical part 16 that is formed of carbon to be cylindrical and has a supporting face 20 and an outer peripheral face 21 and a plurality of orifice pin inserting holes 17 penetrating from the supporting face 20 to the outer peripheral face 21; and orifice pins 19 that are inserted into the orifice pin inserting holes 17 and supply air to a gap formed between the rotating shaft 11 and the supporting face 20. The orifice pins 19 have air supplying faces 23 on which jetting holes 24 for jetting air are formed. The air supplying faces 23 are formed in positions recessed from the supporting face 20, and air pockets 25 are formed in regions surrounded by the air supplying faces 23 and the orifice pin inserting holes 17.
