PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for an internal combustion engine in which a part of a piston skirt positioned in an axial direction of a piston pin hole is notched so as to reduce the weight, wherein enhancement in the strength of the piston is implemented while supplying lubricating oil to the piston pin hole at a relatively high pressure. SOLUTION: In the piston for an internal combustion engine, a piston pin boss 5 and an end in an outer radial direction of an area are coupled in which a piston skirt 6 is notched which is an end surface 2a of a piston head 2 approximately orthogonal to a reciprocating direction of a piston 1. An oil introduction pipe 9 communicates between an oil ring groove 3a provided to the piston head 2 and a piston pin hole 4. A lubricating oil passage 10 for supplying to the piston pin hole 4 lubricating oil in the oil ring groove 3a is formed in the pipe 9.
