摘要 <p>An automatic determination apparatus uses a video camera to capture an image of a fibrous aggregation, such as a filter tow, which continuously runs along the front side of a background board, uses a sync separator circuit (5a) to sync separate the video signal, and uses a clamp circuit (5b) for clamping. The apparatus acquires, based on the clamped image signal, characteristic information including defect information related to the thickness, width and/or soil of the fibrous aggregation, extracts the defect information from the acquired characteristic information, and determines whether the fibrous aggregation is proper or not. For example, the clamped image signal is supplied to a noise removal circuit (6a) to extract a defect signal related to the thickness of the fibrous aggregation. Then, a determination circuit (7) determines, based on the extracted signal and a reference signal related to the information, whether the defect information is proper or not, and if not, a notification circuit (8) makes a notification. It should be noted that the characteristic information may be supplied to an external computer for utilizing a process control. The present invention provides an automatic determination apparatus and an automatic determination method for accurately determining whether the width, thickness and soil of a continuously running fibrous aggregation are proper or not.</p>
