ON-CHANNEL REPEATER FOR A TERRESTRIAL WAVE DIGITAL TV BROADCASTING SIGNAL AND METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: An on-channel repeater for a terrestrial wave digital TV broadcasting signal and a method therefor are provided to increase the use efficiency of limited frequency resources by relaying an ATSC(Advanced Television System Committee) digital TV broadcasting service. CONSTITUTION: A receiving antenna(801) receives an RF(Radio Frequency) broadcasting signal transmitted from a main transmitter. An IF(Intermediate Frequency) down-converting unit(803) converts the RF broadcasting signal received from the receiving antenna into an IF signal on the basis of the first reference frequency. A demodulating unit(804) converts the IF signal converted in the IF down-converting unit into a baseband signal. An equalizing unit(805) removes a certain unnecessary signal generated between the main transmitter and an on-channel repeater from the baseband signal converted in the demodulating unit. A modulating unit(806) converts a baseband output signal of the equalizing unit into an IF signal. An RF up-converting unit(807) converts the IF signal converted by the modulating unit into an RF broadcasting signal on the basis of the second reference frequency. A high power amplifying unit(808) amplifies the RF broadcasting signal converted in the RF up-converting unit, and relays the amplified RF broadcasting signal. A transmitting antenna(809) transmits the broadcasting signal outputted from the high power amplifying unit. An LO(Local Oscillator)(810) generates the first reference frequency, and provides the generated first reference frequency to the IF down-converting unit. The LO generates the second reference frequency on the basis of the first reference frequency, and provides the generated second reference frequency to the RF up-converting unit.
