PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video system that compares information which characterizes recording information of a recording medium with information recorded on a remote database and displays characters, numerals and/or graphic information corresponding to the characterized information sent from the remote database onto a display device. SOLUTION: A control section (125) receives control information via a communication link (145), the control section receives information characterizing a medium reproduced by a player (105) of recording media (105-1 to 105-N) via a connection section (115) and transmits this information to the remote database (155) via the communication link. Furthermore, the control section receives medium identification information from the remote database, according to the information characterizing the medium and couples the character, numeral and/or graphic information signal corresponding to it with a display device (184).
