Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 TRANSPARENT CRYSTALLIZED GLASS PRODUCT AND OPTICAL COMMUNICATION DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 transparent crystallized glass product which is suitable for use as a casing material of an optical communication device such as an optical coupler, and to provide an optical communication device by using the glass product. SOLUTION: The glass is prepared by crystallizingβ-quartz solid solution as the principal crystal. The coefficient of thermal expansion in the temperature range from -40 to +100 deg.C ranges from -6 to +20×10-7/ deg.C and the transmittance for UV ray at 340 nm for 1 mm thickness is >=15%.
