The crankshaft incorporates an integrated reduction gear inside the crankcase. The flywheel of the engine in question is not driven directly by the crankshaft, but through an additional flywheel shaft. The crankshaft (1) and the flywheel shaft (2) are both inside the crankcase. They are connected to each other by reduction gear pairs (3, 4).
