Copolyesters having repeat units derived from succinic acid

An aliphatic copolyester comprises repeat units of formula (I) or (II): R1 = 2-12C alkylene, provided that the alkylene is other than -(CH2)4-; 4-12 C cycloalkylene; or 4-12 C oxyalkylene; R2 = 3-12 C alkylene, 4-12 C cycloalkylene or 2-12 C oxyalkylene. The copolyester has an I.V of 1.0-2.0 dl/g as measured at 25[deg]C for a 60/40 pts. wt. soln. of phenol/tetrachloroethane. Also claimed are: (1) a dimensionally stable articles selected from films, fibres, foamed and moulded articles; and (2) the prepn. of high mol. wt. aliphatic copolyesters having good colour.
