The method involves receiving an indication from a keyboard that a key is selected. A timer is started and determining whether the key is continuously selected beyond the timer timing out. The key is programmed, when the key is continuously selected beyond the timer timing out. An action associated with the key is performed when the key is selected and released prior to the timer timing out.
