<p>The pump has a pump cylindrical housing (1) for a pump rotor, and defining an inlet and an outlet. A blood gap (5) is defined by the rotor between the rotor and the housing. Magnetic axial thrust bearings (4, 4) act across the gap to counteract forces on the rotor. The rotor is suspended axially within the housing by magnets of the bearing. The gap has fresh blood that is continuously provided for washing.</p> |
