Method of testing an optical electrical converter

A method of testing an optical electrical converter which receives an optical input signal and provides an electrical output signal comprising the step of applying an input signal with a parameter that is out of a specified application range being defined by the limits of normal operational characteristics of the converter and the step of evaluating the electrical output signal of the converter in response to the input signal applied to determine the result of the testing procedure. According to a variant of the testing method, the duty cycle for the input signal is varied at least once.
