PHOTOCATALYST COMPRISING TITANIUM FLUORIDE NITRIDE FOR WATER DECOMPOSITION WITH VISIBLE LIGHT IRRADIATION

Photocatalyst contains a titanium fluoro-nitride or a titanium fluoro-nitride where an alkali and/or alkali metal is doped in a titanium fluoro-nitride. Photocatalyst contains titanium fluoro-nitride of formula (I) or (II): MeTi(IV)O aN bF c(I) Ti(IV)O aN bF c(II) Me : alkali and alkaline earth metal; a : value which maintains Ti(IV) and depends on b and c; b : 0.1-1; and c : 0.1-1; At least one metal Me is doped in Ti(IV)O aN bF c(II). Independent claims are also included for: (1) the manufacture of the photocatalyst (II) by forming a raw material by calcining a mixture of di-ammonium titanium fluorinated halide and ammonium halide at 200-500[deg]C, and heating this at 350-700[deg]C for 5 hours in an ammonia atmosphere containing oxygen, air or water; and (2) the manufacture of SrTi(IV)O aN bF cby forming a raw material by calcining TiF xX 6-xand/or (NH 4) 2TiF dX 6-dand SrO, SrOH and SrX, or SrTiF 6, and heating at 350-700[deg]C for 5 hours in an ammonia atmosphere containing oxygen, air or water.
