Fragrances based on cyclic acetals

Cyclic acetal perfumes (I) based on substituted propionaldehydes are new. Cyclic acetal perfumes of formula (I) are new: [Image] R1>, R3>, R5> - R7>, R9>, R1>0>H, methyl, ethyl or n- or i-propyl; R4>H or, together with R3>, forms a methylene (=CH2) group; R8>1-5C alkyl; and broken line in the cyclic unit : single or double bond. An independent claim is also included for preparation of (I) by reaction of an aldehyde with a diol.
