A buffer capacitor having a least one pair of positive and negative plates each in the form of a loop current or charge buffer 10, which comprises an electric conducting material 21, which may be rigid or flexible, arranged in parallel and is electrically insulated from each other by a dielectric material 11 and electrically joined 22 to form a closed electrical loop. The plates 10 are arranged one on top of the other in parallel separated by alternate layers of a dielectric material 12 and can be rigid and flat or tightly wound and electrically sealed.
