Method and apparatus for decoding a low density parity check (LDPC) code in a communication system

The apparatus has a syndrome calculator receiving parity values of coded symbols. A switch switches an output signal of a comparison/selection unit (503) to one of three output terminals according to one of three switching control signals, respectively. A controller (510) receives the output value from the unit (503), and generates the one of the three switching control signals according to a predetermined condition. An independent claim is also included for a low density parity check code decoding method of decoding symbols coded with LDPC-codes.
