The method involves applying a temporally recursive filter (32A) to a processing parameter to obtain an adapted processing parameter. A set of images including a current image is processed based on the adapted processing parameter. A controlling coefficient of the temporally recursive filter is adapted based on a difference between average picture levels determined from two distinct sets of images. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an apparatus for processing a sequence of images; and (b) a computer program product, comprising computer program for carrying out a method of processing a sequence of images.
