An optic cable (350) comprises one or more optical fibers (108) disposed in an inner tube (354) and a corrosion resistant metal outer tube (104) disposed over the inner tube, where the inner and outer tubes make intermittent contact. In another embodiment, an optic cable (350) comprises one or more optical fibers disposed in a polymer tube having fins (352) extending therefrom. Alternatively the inner tube may be square. The inner tube may have a low hydrogen permeable coating and by filled by a viscous material, including a hydrogen absorbing or hydrogen scavenging material, disposed between the fibres and the inner tube. The cable may be used in down hole oil and gas well applications. |
