Knife folding machine (1) has at least two drive motors (9,10) with at least one rotationally or translationally driven folding blade (2, 3) and at least a mechanical coupling (14, 21) between the drive motors and the folding blades. Additionally an electrical coupling (25) is provided in parallel with the mechanical coupling that is used to compensate the mechanical coupling. An independent claim is made for a method for producing fixed creases or folds in a material web.
