Apparatus and method for enlarging the cross section of an underground structure

The internal cross-section and inner contour of a ground structure, such as a channel, is processed and enlarged by the equipment involving a milling tool (9) fitted on a support (1) on a beam arm (7). The support has rollers (19) for movement into the cross-section being processed. The beam arm (7) is linked to the support cardanically around a horizontal pivot axis (6) and around a further pivot axis (8). The linkage point of the arm is adjustable as to height.
