Equivalent multiple path traffic distribution in communications networks

The method involves providing source and destination addresses for a network message, where the addresses are formed of individual bit values. A relative mapping of bit values is decorrelated to obtain decorrelated address pair. A randomized selection function is applied to the pair to produce an index which is derived from a relative sequence of values pertaining to the pair. An equivalent path is selected by the index. An independent claim is also included for a network apparatus for selecting an equivalent path for forwarding a network message.
