Method and apparatus for error tolerant decoding of compressed and encoded digital images

The method involves processing digital image sequence for obtaining a set of de-quantized blocks having digital values corresponding to de-quantized coefficients of a transform in a bi-dimensional spatial frequencies domain. A block with digital values outside a preset range of digital values is selected and discarded. A respective pixel block having replacement information is provided in a decoded-decompressed image. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method of transferring initial digital image from a communication terminal; (b) a multimedia communication apparatus.
