APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR STEERING A GUIDEWAY VEHICLE

A steering apparatus is provided for use on a transit vehicle (10) which includes separate steerable drive tires (45, 50) intended to follow the contour of a guide rail (20). An adjustable linkage (80) transmits the motio n of a guide frame (65) following a guide rail (20) to the steerable drive tir es (45, 50) and positions the linkage (80) to provide the proper slip angle to the steerable drive tires (45, 50).
