PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To equalize machining resistance A, B working on left and right addenda 20a, 20b of a tool 2 at a terminal end part of gear cutting. SOLUTION: Shapes of the addenda 20a, 20b of each of cutting teeth 20 of a machining tool 2 to form a helical gear 4 by shaving are made into shapes symmetrical with respect to an axis O1 of the tool. The life of the tool 2 is increased without causing unbalance as in the past and deforming the gear 4 since the uniform machining resistance A, B is generated on the left and right addenda 20a, 20b when the gear cutting of the helical gear 4 is carried out by this tool 2.
