FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly knurling large-size threads and worms. ^ SUBSTANCE: supporting apparatus to knurling machine tool includes base on which cutter moving mechanism and supporting sleeves are mounted. Slide is arranged in supporting sleeves. Two stocks with centers and pin are secured to slide. The last is mounted with possibility of axial motion. One center is arranged in first stock and it is joined with device for compensating blank elongation at knurling process. Cutter has inclined grooves and it is joined with mechanism for moving it, for example through rope; pin is arranged in inclined grooves of cutter. Axial motion mechanism is joined with center through additional device for compensating blank elongation. In base there is lengthwise cylindrical groove parallel relative to axis of centers. Base is joined with supporting plate by means of truncated cylindrical bearing member engaged with cylindrical groove of base by cylindrical portion of its radius. Base is mounted with possibility of rocking motion on cylindrical bearing member in plane normal to axis of centers. Cutter is spring-loaded relative to one of supporting sleeves; slide through stock is spring-loaded relative to supporting sleeve. Axis of centers is shifted relative to axis of knurling rollers at end of knurling process in vertical direction by 0.1 - 0.2 mm. Such design provides high quality of knurled profile due to using two symmetrically arranged devices for compensating blank elongation in order to prevent deformation of blank and due to minimum shifting of center axis in vertical direction at initial and final time moments of knurling process. It is achieved due to use of truncated cylindrical bearing member joined with additional supporting plate.
