FIELD: nuclear power engineering; thermal reactor cores. ^ SUBSTANCE: reactor core has process channels installed in solid moderator that accommodate fuel rods. The latter are installed in channels so that they form cavity holding hydrogen-containing moderator. Cross-sectional area of cavity measures between 1.0 and 5.0 cm. Water is used as hydrogen-containing moderator; cavity also holds water volume limiter made in the form of shell. ^ EFFECT: improved breeding properties due to enhanced mean neutron flux on fuel elements; reduced variation of energy and negative reactivity liberation at coolant loss. ^ 4 cl, 5 dwg |
