FIELD: chemical engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural design of absorption towers employed in production of sulfuric acid in air-or gas-drying stage and in stage of absorption of sulfur trioxide from gas mixture. Absorption tower comprises packed steel body lines with acidproof brick, inlet-pipe to introduce gas or air mixture, gas-distributing grate, and acid-distributing device. Cylindrical gas-distributing grate with diameter inferior to that of tower is laid with conventional acidproof bricks on the bottom of steel tower body coaxially with the latter. The grate has through channels having different length at each of its levels. Channels on the side of packing are gradually distributed across the cross section of grate in the form of regular concentric polygons, lengths of the channels in lower section being maximal and those in upper section minimal. Gas-distributing grate supports cylindrical casing with the some diameter made from acidproof bricks, which is connected to lining of tower body and has height not less than diameter of inlet pipe incised into tower body tangentially to internal brick-laid cylindrical casing. central internal part of gas-distributing grate, along all its height, is filled with packing having size larger then the size of the rest of packing. ^ EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of heat-exchange process and diminished volume of packing. ^ 2 cl, 2 dwg |
