The device has a gas distribution device (2), and a source (10) of oxygen with bottles of oxygen under pressure. Another oxygen source (15) is arranged in the form of molecular sieve beds. An altitude sensor (19) provides a status signal related to an altitude of flight. A regulation unit (17) provides a derivation signal from the source (10) to the source (15) by valves (9,11) according to the status signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for activating a device for supplying oxygen for emergency in an aircraft.
