PURPOSE: A fuel cell is provided, to reduce the concentration polarization at the positive electrode of a liquid fuel and to improve generating power. CONSTITUTION: The fuel cell comprises a positive electrode and a negative electrode located at both sides of an electrolyte membrane, and generates electricity by supplying a liquid fuel to the positive electrode and an oxidant gas to the negative electrode, thereby reacting the liquid fuel and the oxidant gas, wherein the positive electrode is provided with a gas diffusion layer comprising a conductive powder charged in a conductive porous supporter coated with a hydrophilic material, and a catalyst layer. Preferably the porous supporter comprises a carbon-containing fiber(22); and the conductive powder is carbon black(24). Preferably the carbon black has a dibutyl phthalate absorption of 160 ml/100 g or more. |
