A first key comprising one or more of a vehicle's registration plate number, a vehicle's identification number and a vehicle's chassis number is utilized to query a government provided database such as the Land Transport Safety Authority database, and the combination of information from the first database resulting from the query is used as a second key which comprises a vehicle's current registration plate number, at least one of the vehicle's past registration plate number(s) that has been assigned to the vehicle within a particular period of time in the past, and the vehicle's vehicle identification number to query another government database, such as the Motor Vehicle Security Register or the Personal Property Security Register to provide a comprehensive composition of information that includes information not only on the present properties of the asset, but also past properties and inconsistencies in the data recorded about the asset at different times.
