Calcium phosphate capsules comprise an organic core containing an active ingredient and a surfactant and/or amphiphilic polymer. An independent claim is also included for producing the capsules by precipitating calcium phosphate in an aqueous medium in the presence of the active ingredient and the surfactant and/or amphiphilic polymer, separating the resulting capsules and optionally formulating the capsules in dry form.
